Blogger.com Beats MySpace

Is Blogging overtaking Social Networking?

The newly released Neilsen Online figures show that Blogger.com, the blogging service owned by Google, reached 5.1 million user in January.

Over the same period the previously-huge MySpace reached just over 5 million and Bebo a smidgen over 4 million.

Blogging - For MySpace users when they grown up?
For a long time we’ve though that Social networking sites like MySpace were for people who hadn’t grown up into blogging yet. MySpace, et al allowed them to easily enter the world of writing online.

Rather than a large sheet of blank of empty that Blogging effectively gives you, which could be scary, MySpace gave people categories to write about — clues if you like — where people were able find a place to hook on to. Much less scary.

Now all of those people have now broken their online-cherry, we’d imagine that those people start to get frustrated with the limitations of MySpace, etc — plus their not so cool any more are they, so why not look elsewhere?

Blogger.com History
Evan Williams battled with Blogger for ages, for a long period by himself, but slowly, slowly more people signed up to use it.

Then, one day back in 2003, Google bought it, reportedly for $10 million plus some equity in pre-IPO Google.

Best-value deal Google ever did judging by Blogger’s traffic levels.

Glamour model glad to have her curvy figure back

Gemma Atkinson feared she'd lost her figure when she lost weight last year.

The glamour model, 23, says her boobs nearly disappeared after she went on a diet.

'My boobs looked like saggy, empty sacks. It made me really depressed,' she says. 'I shrunk from a DD cup to a B.'

But Gemma got her curves back after cutting back on her slimming routines.

'I'm an E cup now, which is big, but not too big for my frame,' she tells the Daily Star. 'I'm tall with a strong body, so I don't look top heavy.'

Gemma is now focusing on her debut album of R&B songs. 'I've written down all the good and bad things that have happened to me in the last year to turn into lyrics,' she says.

'Anyone who's broken my heart will know I'm singing about them! I'm going to have to fight to be taken seriously, but I love a challenge.'

This week Gemma helped launch Ultimo's new range of underwear for Valentine's Day. The spring/summer 08 collection is available at Debenhams nationwide and www.ultimo.co.uk.

Nexium for Children Approved

The FDA approved esomeprazole (Nexium) to help short term gastroesophagel reflux disease (GERD) in children between the ages of 1 and 11. The drug was approved in 2 forms: the delayed release capsule and a magnesium liquid, in 10 and 20 mg doses.

This proton pump inhibitor was already approved for adolescents between the ages of 12 to 17. This approval shows promise to help children in managing the disease more effectively. The FDA approved Nexium on the basis of exploratory research demonstrating the drug’s effectiveness and safety for use with children. Previous studies showed improvement among the children who were administered Nexium.

The FDS suggests monitoring of these children over time to ensure that they do not have any adverse side effects. There are some side effects, although not ever patient will experience them, such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, gas, constipation and dry mouth.
